Créée en 1995, Feria Musica place l’articulation entre musique et acrobatie au cœur de son approche. Entre impulsions réciproques et réponses inattendues, les univers sonore et visuel s’imbriquent, incarnés par un ensemble d’acrobates et de musiciens à l’unisson.
Ses cinq premières créations, Liaisons Dangereuses (1997), Calcinculo (2000), mis en scène par Dirk Opstaele, Le Vertige du Papillon (2004), chorégraphié par Fatou Traoré, Infundibulum (2009) et Sinué (2012), mis en scène par Mauro Paccagnella, témoignent du goût de la compagnie pour les constructions monumentales et les aventures collectives.
Courant 2012, Feria Musica se lance dans l’aventure de l’opéra, confiant l’écriture d’un livret au romancier et dramaturge français Laurent Gaudé (Prix Goncourt 2004 pour Le Soleil des Scorta). La musique est composée par Kris Defoort, et la mise en scène confiée à Fabrice Murgia. Cet opéra circassien intitulé Daral Shaga est créé en septembre 2014 à l’Opéra-Théâtre de Limoges.
Created in 1995, the company soon stood out for its research within contemporary circus, special attention being given to achieving a balance between music and acrobatics. Feeding on one another in sometimes unexpected ways, sound and music merge, and are embodied by a group of acrobats and musicians gathered to perform collectively.
Each show is the result of an encounter between acrobats, musicians and a theatre director or choreographer: Dirk Opstaele for Liaisons Dangereuses (1997) and Calcinculo (2000), Fatou Traoré for Le Vertige du Papillon (2004), Mauro Paccagnella for Infundibulum (2009) and Sinué (2012). Feeding on its encounters and travels, the company has developed a common theme over time, each show reflecting the company’s preference for monumental constructions and collective adventures.
The new production by Feria Musica is an opera circus written by the French novelist Laurent Gaudé, composed by Kris Defoort and directed by Fabrice Murgia. The show was premiered on the 25th of September 2014 at the Opéra-Théâtre de Limoges.
